Why Come To Camp?

Every July, all camp members, Campers and Carers, descend on the Glan-yr-Afon campsite in North Wales. Many of the Campers return year after year to enjoy the unique time they have together. Without the Campers the whole camp wouldn’t take place, but without the Carers, the camp couldn’t take place.

Special Needs Camp offers an experience like no other.

It is a week surrounded by friends, new and old, in one of the most beautiful parts of the world.

In volunteering you will not only be helping in providing an amazing holiday for both campers and a week’s respite for their full-time carers. But you will also be blessed in the fellowship and will make lifelong friends.

You are what makes camp a success!

The main aim of a Special Needs Camp is to provide individuals with special needs a fun and enriching holiday experience in a Christian Setting.

Some of the key objectives of a special needs camp holiday include:

Recreation and Leisure: Camp offers a wide range of recreational activities and leisure opportunities for individuals with special needs. This includes activities such as sports, arts and crafts, music, and nature exploration.

Socialisation and Interaction: Camp provides a supportive and inclusive environment where individuals with special needs can socialise and interact in a Christian environment. It promotes the development of social skills, communication, and the formation of friendships.

Respite and Support for Families: Camp also provide respite and support for families of individuals with special needs. It offers a break from caregiving responsibilities and allows families to recharge while knowing that their loved ones are in a safe and nurturing environment.

Personal Growth and Development: Camp aims to give trained and qualified people the opportunity to share their skills and knowledge with those who are experiencing the roles for the first time. Allowing both to learn and grow.
